Ural machine builders celebrate Machine Builders’ Day. Today, the Pumori Urals Machine-building Corporation held a meeting in anticipation of Machine Builders’ Day (last Sunday in September in Russia), attended by employees of the corporation’s companies situated in Ekaterinburg. General Director Alexander Balandin observed that 2008 had been one of the most successful years for the corporation. Pumori made great progress in machinery sales, tool making, and offering product and service packages to its customers. “Our response to the financial and economic crisis, which did not leave us untouched, was quick. We set up and are continuously adjusting and executing a program providing for a number of measures. We have managed to convince banks that Pumori is a sound and solvent corporation with a good future. We also hope that the Russian Government’s opinion that loan interest rates should be lowered will help to dissipate the economic tension in the real economy,” said Mr. Balandin.
Mr. Igor Chikrizov, Deputy Minister for Energy and Public Utilities of the Sverdlovsk Oblast, who was also participating, said that the crisis was at its worst in metallurgy and machine building. “However, you in the corporation have a vision, and that makes us believe in your success,” he said.
